Amsterdam-based Plastic Soup Foundation is a model for PHN!'s theme of "action and advocacy". While the Foundation has a specific focus on plastics in the water supply, the range of the work is broad, building strong partnerships across a range of government, NGOs, and universities. PSF tackles information campaigns designed to prompt citizen and broad-scale action, all the while relying upon the evidence base and articulating their position with thorough position statements. Coordinated with the UN Ocean Day earlier this month, one of PSF's projects is targeting the health effects of plastic on humans, with a position paper, an extended public campaign with celebrities advocating a "plastic diet" to cut down on use, and alarming summaries of the evidence about plastics and the relationship to heart disease, cancer, and more.
